Medtronic makes two appointments to leadership team
Medtronic has announced a pair of changes to its senior leadership team, coinciding with the departure of Bryan Hanson from the company.
Bob White, the firm's senior vice-president and president of its Asia-Pacific regional business, has been named executive vice-president and president of Medtronic's minimally invasive therapies group with immediate effect.
Mr White joined Medtronic with the Covidien acquisition, and has played a key role in driving commercial growth for Medtronic in Asia across all four of its main product and therapy groups.
Meanwhile, Chris Lee – senior vice-president and president of Medtronic's greater China region – will take over Mr White's vacated post. He will remain interim president for the China business until a permanent successor is named in the coming weeks.
These changes have been necessitated by Mr Hanson's departure as head of the minimally invasive therapies group to become president and chief executive of another public medical technology company.
Omar Ishrak, chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic, said: "Their extensive knowledge and expertise of the Medtronic businesses and regions involved – as well as their demonstrated track records of success – will ensure continuity to our overall business strategies and objectives."
