Medtronic receives CE Mark for new CRT-P devices

27th February 2017

Medtronic has announced that its next-generation line of quadripolar cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemaker (CRT-P) devices have received European CE Mark approval.

To be made available across Europe in March, the product range includes the Percepta Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan, Serena Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan and Solara Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan devices.

Each of the new pacemakers offers proactive heart failure management alongside industry-leading pacing technology, while still allowing patients to undergo MRI scans using 1.5 or 3 Tesla machines.

Percepta Quad CRT-P features the EffectivCRT Diagnostic tool, which automatically determines the effectiveness of each left ventricular pace, and the EffectivCRT algorithm, which adjusts pacing rates during atrial fibrillation without affecting the average heart rate.

Both Percepta Quad and Serena Quad also feature the Medtronic-exclusive AdaptivCRT algorithm, which has been shown to reduce a patient's odds of a 30-day heart failure readmission by 59 percent.

Dr David Steinhaus, vice-president and general manager of Medtronic's heart failure business, said: "With the addition of quadripolar CRT-P devices to our heart failure portfolio, we now offer a comprehensive line of CRT devices to further meet the needs of patients throughout Europe."
