Medtronic reports positive data from Endurant AAA stent trial
Medtronic has reported positive data from a clinical trial of its Endurant AAA stent graft system, showing the benefits it can provide in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair procedures.
Two-year clinical data for the market-leading device demonstrated the robust mid-term follow-up performance provided by the stent graft, which is chosen for nearly one out of every two endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs worldwide.
Of the 500 patients assessed, more than 98 percent were free from aneurysm-related mortality through two years of post-procedure follow-up, while more than half saw the size of their aneurysms reduce in diameter by 5 mm or more.
Study investigator Dr Dittmar Bockler of the University Hospital of Heidelberg in Germany said: "The Endurant system sets a new standard in clinical outcomes for aortic stent grafts with unprecedented breadth, depth, quality and consistency of results."
This week, the company also published its financial results for the second quarter of its current fiscal year, during which it experienced a five percent year-on-year revenue increase on a constant currency basis.
