Medtronic to launch Attain Performa quadripolar leads in Europe

11th March 2013

Medtronic is set to introduce its new Attain Performa portfolio of quadripolar leads in Europe for use in cardiac resynchronisation therapy applications.

The company has received CE Mark approval for the left-heart leads, which can be paired with Medtronic's Viva/Brava Quad cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillators and are optimised for navigating different patient anatomies.

Featuring four electrodes with 16 pacing configurations, the new products provide additional pacing options that are not available with unipolar or bipolar leads.

They also include steroid elution on all four electrodes for lower chronic pacing thresholds and incorporate VectorExpress technology, an automated in-office test that rapidly provides information on physician-selected pacing configurations.

Dr David Steinhaus, vice-president and general manager for heart failure and medical director for the cardiac rhythm disease management business at Medtronic, said: "Our new quadripolar leads were designed with advancements that help physicians customise care for their heart failure patients so they receive the optimal therapy for their condition."

This comes after the company was granted CE Mark approval for the new Engager Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation system last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801554531-ADNFCR
