Menarini announces Silicon Biosystems takeover
Menarini has announced the acquisition of life sciences company Silicon Biosystems for an undisclosed fee.
Silicon Biosystems is a leading provider of specialised molecular and cellular biology technologies that are capable of recovering and analysing tumour cells from blood samples, making them highly useful in clinical research applications.
Its DEPArray and Ampli1 genomic analysis systems are frequently used to advance the development of cancer diagnostics and accelerate the age of precision medicine through personalised therapies.
Through this takeover, Silicon Biosystems will be able to capitalise on its new parent company's infrastructure and business synergies, while its offerings complement Menarini's existing ventures, including its diagnostics businesses and pharmaceutical/biotechnology research programmes.
Lucia Aleotti, chairman of Menarini, said: "We are excited by the high potential of Silicon Biosystems' technology and the possibility we will have to dramatically impact patients' lives."
Based in Italy, Menarini is a leading life science and pharmaceutical research company, employing more than 16,000 people worldwide.
