Merck Animal Health set to Procure Elanco for $1.3bn

12th February 2024

Merck Animal Health, also known as MSD Animal Health, has revealed the acquisition of Elanco Animal Health Incorporated for just over $1bn.

Elanco Animal Health is a global company specializing in the development and marketing of veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and health products for companion and food animals.

The procurement deal will be wrapped up by around July 2024, provided the firm receives regulatory acceptance and other customary factors agreed upon.

A successful acquisition will see the development of Merck’s aqua platform; this includes CLYNAV, a DNA-oriented immunization that targets pancreatic illnesses, as well as a warm water portfolio that will enhance Merck’s warm water immunization platform.

Jess Simmons, the head executive of Elanco Animal Health, stated, “Following a robust process over the last year, Merck Animal Health emerged as the right strategic buyer for the aquaculture business.”

Simmons went on to add, “We are deeply grateful to our aqua organization’s dedication to delivering for our customers and to our bigger purpose of enriching lives with animal protein.”
