Merck launches new life science centre in Massachusetts

11th October 2017

Merck has announced that its US business MilliporeSigma is launching a new life science centre in Burlington, Massachusetts.

The centre will serve as a regional hub for scientific advancement and customer collaboration and spans 280,000 sq ft, with nearly 1,000 employees working at the facility.

In addition to a customer service and call centre, the campus features an M Lab Collaboration Center, a shared exploratory environment where Merck scientists and engineers work with customers to learn about the latest techniques in biomanufacturing.

By the end of the year, it will also play host to a BioReliance End-to-End Biodevelopment Center, designed to help small-scale drug manufacturers carry out early-phase clinical trials.

Udit Batra, member of the Merck executive board and chief executive officer for life sciences, said: "Our new Burlington campus is specifically designed to foster a hands-on, collaborative environment where customers and our scientists and engineers come together to solve the toughest problems in life science."
