Merck launches new protein detection platform SMCxPRO

6th April 2017

Merck has introduced SMCxPRO, a high-sensitivity protein detection platform that can help to accelerate drug discovery and improve overall lab productivity.

Offering rapid and highly sensitive single-molecule detection, the platform allows researchers to detect and quantify low-abundance biomarkers that traditional methods cannot measure, all from within a compact design.

The new product has been designed to meet customer demand for improved biomarker and target discovery and detection tools and works in conjunction with Merck's other offerings in this field, including the recently released Sanger CRISPR libraries, which expanded the company's suite of gene editing tools.

SMCxPRO made its debut at the recent American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in Washington DC, and will be made commercially available during the third quarter of 2017.

Jason Apter, head of research solutions strategic marketing and innovation at the life science business sector of Merck, said: "Detection of low-abundance biomarkers allows for quantitation of a new class of novel targets. We are committed to empowering researchers by providing the technologies needed to accelerate advancements in healthcare."
