Merck launches Stericup Quick Release filtration system
Merck has announced the launch of Stericup® Quick Release, a new filter bottle system for use in the sterile filtration of cell culture media, buffers and reagents.
The 500 ml vacuum filtration system has been designed as the successor to the original Stericup system, which has been in use in labs worldwide for decades. It offers improved ergonomic design to optimise user control and streamline filtration, while leveraging the proven performance of Millipore membranes to provide reliable results.
The new system combines a Steritop filter unit with a redesigned Stericup receiver bottle for the storage of sterilised media, buffers and other liquids, plus a Quick Release filter funnel, a frosted, ample writing surface and a click-seal confidence cap.
Additionally, it provides an easy-open feature, peel-and-stick labels on the sterile bags, and a
single-use design to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent reuse.
Klaus Bischoff, head of the research solutions business within Merck's life science division, said: "Even seemingly routine processes like microfiltration must be reliable and consistent, because quality and reproducibility are critical to the cell culture process."
