Merck Millipore to support Breast Cancer Research Foundation

28th October 2010

Merck Millipore is to provide funding for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in order to support its efforts to combat the deadly disease.

The two organisations have entered into a partnership that will see Merck Millipore donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of every Guava Flow Cytometry EasyCyte system to BCRF through to September 30th 2011.

It comes alongside a $20,000 (12,595 pounds) grant, which will be provided to BCRF in order to support more than 170 researchers across the world conducting studies into breast cancer and possible cures.

The partnership will also see Merck Millipore feature BCRF branding on many of its products.

John Sweeney, vice-president of life sciences at Merck Millipore, said: "As many of our products are used to research and combat cancer, we felt it was important to partner with a leading organisation also dedicated to this fight."

Merck Millipore, formerly known as Millipore, was rebranded when it became part of the Merck KGaA group in July 2010, following a 5.2 billion euro (4.5 billion pounds) takeover.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800199628-ADNFCR
