Merck Millipore to transfer distribution of insulin to Novo Nordisk

28th January 2011

Merck Millipore is to transfer responsibility for distributing its Incelligent insulin range for cell culture media to its manufacturer Novo Nordisk.

As of May 1st 2011, the science company will cease to be responsible for selling the Incelligent SG and Incelligent AF product lines, with biopharmaceutical and life science sector clients guaranteed a secure supply by Novo Nordisk.

The agreement comes as demand for the insulin products increases, with Merck Millipore stating that Novo Nordisk is well-placed to offer long-term access.

A statement from the company added: "Merck Millipore continues investments in new products and technologies to become a leading provider of cell culture media supplements which are used in the production of … biologic drugs that are marketed worldwide."

In November 2010, the firm launched its new Human Oligodendrocyte Differentiation Kit, a product that facilitates the process of generating oligodendrocyte populations from neural progenitors for use in the study of conditions such as multiple sclerosis.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800371899-ADNFCR
