Merck receives accreditation for culture media quality control
Merck has received official accreditation for the dehydrated culture media tested at its microbiology quality control laboratory in Darmstadt.
The company has received ISO/IEC-17025:2005 accreditation, the internationally-recognised standard in testing and calibration for laboratory quality systems. It indicates that Merck's facility adheres to stringent standards for quality in preparation and performance.
This international standard represents a benchmark for lab competence for specific types of testing, measurement and calibration, providing users with assurance that any test data supplied by the lab can be considered accurate and reliable.
It means that the lab's GranuCult culture media is fully compliant to the new mandatory ISO 11133:2014 standard concerning the preparation, production, storage and performance testing of culture media.
The company said: "ISO/IEC-17025:2005-certified culture media help lab professionals remain consistently compliant and accurate in their microbial testing of food and water samples."
Merck's industry leadership was underlined last month after its CRISPR Epigenetic Activator was named as one of The Scientist magazine's top ten innovations for 2015.
