Merck Serono launches pharmaceutical careers training scheme

21st February 2011

Merck Serono has launched a new corporate initiative that will provide a number of international students with pharmaceutical industry training.

The Merck Serono Innovation Cup 2011 will invite advanced life science and business students from around the world to apply to attend a one-week training programme that will take place in Frankfurt in August 2011.

A total of 20 participants will be selected for the scheme, which will allow students to work with Merck Serono professionals, attend expert-hosted seminars and develop business cases with retired company staff members to compete for a cash prize.

Dietmar Eidens, head of global human resources at Merck Serono, said the initiative will focus on key areas such as research and development and addressing global healthcare needs.

"Building talent today for tomorrow's business is a strategic priority at Merck Serono. One way to achieve this is by contributing to the personal development of talented post-graduate students," he explained.

Earlier this month, the pharmaceutical company launched an online resource called lifebeyondchemotherapy.com, which provides cancer patients' carers with advice and clinical information on the condition.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800416671-ADNFCR
