Merck Sharp and Dohme names new UK managing director

6th September 2016

Merck Sharp and Dohme has announced the promotion of Louise Houson to the role of managing director for the UK and Ireland.

Ms Houson previously served as the head of the company's human health business in Ireland and helped to oversee a period of significant growth over the last year. In total, she has been with the organisation for around 18 years.

She has been appointed as the successor to Mike Nally, who will take on the role of president of Merck's global vaccines business. He has served as the UK's managing director since the beginning of 2014 as part of an overall 14-year tenure with the company.

The new UK boss will be tasked with overseeing the firm's response to Britain's exit from the European Union and the forthcoming publication of the Accelerated Access Review, as well as its continued partnership work with NHS England.

Ms Houson said: "I see a great opportunity to draw on my experiences in Ireland and to pave the way for healthcare delivery within the vast and varied landscape of our commercial environment."
