Merck Sharp and Dohme to establish new UK research hub

Merck Sharp and Dohme has announced plans to establish a new research facility in the UK, reaffirming the company's commitment to the country.

The world-leading life science discovery research facility will support a total of 950 jobs in high-skilled and high-value research roles, and will help the company to establish better connections within the European life science ecosystem.

This announcement coincides with the publication of the government's new industrial strategy, a long-term economic growth plan that will see the UK investing in a number of key sectors, including the life science industry.

Merck Sharp and Dohme has pledged to work with the government to build upon and further develop this new industrial strategy as part of its latest commitment.

Dr Roger Perlmutter, president of Merck Research Laboratories, said: "A new UK location will enable us to build on our proud legacy of invention and be an important contributor to the vibrant and rapidly growing UK life sciences community."
