METTLER Toledo combats express carrier charges

22nd January 2008

METTLER Toledo has released a new white paper, ‘Moving Air’.

The paper discusses how warehouse operations that rely on the transport industry can profit from dimensioning technology, aligning their efficiency with the transport and distribution sector.

According to the company, the cost of goods was previously solely calculated by weight.

It added that by charging by weight alone, large low-density packages become unprofitable for freight carriers as they occupy a large amount of space compared to their actual weight.

METTLER Toledo continued to state that by recognising this source of inefficiency, express carriers were able to rapidly recognise the way in which they worked- charging for services and shipping costs are now determined by both volume and weight.

Meanwhile, the precision instruments and professional services company has launched the FlexiDose module, a new solid dispensing technology.

The new product expands the solid dispensing capabilities of the FlexiWeight and is a "convenient" solution for solid dispensing needs.
