Millipore launches ProRes-S media for antibody purification
Millipore has announced the launch of a new semirigid cation exchange resin designed for use in the purification of monoclonal antibodies and proteins.
The new ProRes-S media product has been developed in collaboration with chemical company Dow and is designed to resolve difficult impurities while providing a broader operating window over a wide range of conductivities.
According to Millipore, this will bring a number of advantages to biopharmaceutical manufacturers, allowing for improved throughput and flexibility while minimising their manufacturing footprint.
Paul Chapman, vice-president of Millipore’s downstream processing business unit, said this helps to make the purification process more efficient.
He added: “Combining Millipore’s expertise in purification with Dow’s extensive experience in ion-exchange resins technology allows us to offer biopharmaceutical manufacturers a substantially expanded chromatography solution.”
Millipore is currently in the process of being acquired by chemical company Merck KGaA, with Millipore shareholders having overwhelmingly voted in favour of the deal last month.
