Millipore scientist to teach USP dissolution testing course

12th September 2008

Millipore, a provider of technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, has announced that the senior scientist in its Bioscience Division has been invited to teach part of a United States Pharmacopeia (USP) course on dissolution theory and best practice.

The company said Dr Vivek Joshi is the only non-USP lecturer to be taking part in the two-day course, which will be held in Somerset, New Jersey, on October 1st and 2nd.

Aimed at laboratory scientists, lab managers, quality control scientists and compliance staff in both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, the study programme will cover the history, theory and practicalities of dissolution testing.

Chris Hall, USP’s spokesperson for pharmacopeial education, said: "USP is pleased to have Dr. Vivek Joshi teach a very important component of its Dissolution: Theory and Best Practices course.

"His lecture complements the other topics covered in the course to offer our students an exceptional learning experience."

USP is a standards-setting body for prescription and over-the-counter medicines and heath products sold in the United States. Its benchmarks are recognised in around 130 countries worldwide.
