MSD Animal Health acquires vaccines manufacturer Prondil
MSD Animal Health has announced the acquisition of Prondil, a manufacturer of veterinary vaccines based in Uruguay.
The privately-held company specialises in the development and production of animal health vaccines for livestock, and is an internationally-recognised supplier of high-quality antigens for veterinary use.
Its products are sold in more than 20 countries worldwide, and play a key role in protecting animal and public health by reducing the incidence and severity of disease, thereby enabling the efficient production of food animals.
This deal will align with MSD Animal Health's overall business strategy of expanding its vaccine leadership and adding more breadth to its portfolio.
Rick DeLuca, president of MSD Animal Health, said: "This acquisition of Prondil provides expertise and biologics manufacturing capacity as well as a complementary portfolio of specialised livestock vaccines."
This comes after the firm agreed to acquire Vilsan Pharmaceuticals – the largest privately-held producer of animal health products in Turkey – in a deal announced last month.
