MSD Animal Health provides scholarship to bovine medicine researcher
MSD Animal Health has underlined its commitment to scientific progress by awarding a scholarship to a Brazilian animal health researcher.
Dr Guilherme Rizzoto, a veterinarian from Brazil, has been selected as the 2016 recipient of the Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Fund Scholarship, which has been organised to stimulate and support bovine research internationally.
The researcher is conducting studies into the effect heat stress has on fertility in different bull breeds, as understanding temperature regulation could pave the way for potential new options to prevent and treat infertility in bulls.
He was chosen for the award based on his educational background, experience, potential for further development and the quality of his research plans.
Dr Rizzoto said: "It is vital that we understand the implications heat stress has on bulls in order to identify best practices for improving reproduction and ultimately the economic success of this industry in our country."
This comes as part of a wider effort by MSD Animal Health's global ruminants business unit to support and invest in young professionals at the start of their professional careers.
