Mylan completes purchase of women’s healthcare assets from Famy Care

24th November 2015

Mylan has completed the acquisition of certain assets from Famy Care, a deal that strengthens its women's healthcare franchise.

The company's subsidiary Mylan Laboratories has finalised the purchase of several women's healthcare businesses, now known as Jai Pharma, which were originally part of Famy Care before being spun off.

With the completion of the purchase, nearly 1,000 additional employees become part of Mylan, with the added capabilities benefiting the company's operations in both North America and Europe.

It will also support Mylan's aim of expanding its emerging market presence, with plans in place to grow its Indian business and step up a campaign to introduce more women to contraceptives.

Mylan's chief executive officer Heather Bresch said: "The completion of this transaction is an important milestone as we continue to grow our global women's healthcare franchise, and take another step in our mission to provide the world's seven billion people access to high-quality medicine."

The firm recently appointed Ranjan Ray Chaudhuri as global commercial lead for its over-the-counter business and is still trying to close a deal to acquire Perrigo.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801806533-ADNFCR
