Nalco elects new chairman

28th February 2008

Water treatment and process improvement services firm Nelco has announced the appointment of Erik Fyrwald as its new chairman, president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Taking up the post from February 28th, Mr Fyrwald comes to the role from EI du Pont de Nemours where he was chairman and chief executive.

Rodney F Chase, interim chairman of the company’s board of directors, said that Mr Fyrwald offers the "qualities we sought in a CEO.

"He is both an exceptional motivator of people and a driver of innovation – critical success factors in this service – and technology-oriented business," he commented.

The executive’s "business acumen" and "commitment to sustainable development" mean he is an ideal addition to the firm, he added.

Nalco was founded in 1928 and claims to be committed to "innovation" and "corporate citizenship".

Earlier this month the firm established a research centre aimed at developing solutions to help reduce air pollution.
