Nalco sells Finishing Technologies

5th August 2008

Nalco has agreed to sell its Finishing Technologies surface treatment business.

The global integrated water treatment and process improvement services, chemicals and equipment programmes provider signed a deal for the sale with Rockwood Holdings for £75 million.

Erik Fyrwald, Nalco chairman, president and chief executive officer, said it is a good deal for Nalco, Rockwood as well as the workers and clients of the combined surface treatment firms.

"Nalco sharpens its focus on markets in which we have clear leadership positions with the best opportunities for success … [and] Rockwood gains a business with strong people and solid technology," he added.

The organisation’s plant in Jackson, Michigan, dedicated to the Finishing Technologies sector, is included in the deal along with sales, marketing, research and supply-chain employees.

Meanwhile, as of August 19th, David E Flitman will begin his new role as Nalco chief.

The firm claims to be the world’s leading water treatment and process improvement company, delivering significant environmental, social and economic benefits to a variety of industries.
