Nalco supports Business for Environmental Global Summit

24th April 2009

Nalco has supported a meeting held this week to discuss challenges and solutions in the environmental field.

The Business for Environmental Global Summit (B4E 2009) was help on April 22nd and 23rd in Paris, France. It aimed to involve chief executive officers (CEOs), senior executives and leaders from international agencies, governments and non-government organisations.

Chairman, CEO and president of Nalco J Erik Frywald said efforts to become eco-friendly are more important in times of economic difficulty.

"Being more efficient in the use of water and energy, preserving natural resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality can all reduce a company’s total cost of operations," he explained.

Earlier this month, Nalco announced its Ellwood City Plant had won an award for environmental excellence.

Three projects ongoing at the facility were highlighted, including a waste reduction effort, a engineering redesign of cooling systems and a rework of inventory, which reduced waste by almost 150,000 pounds.
