National Smile Month campaign returns in May 2017

10th April 2017

The Oral Health Foundation has announced the return of its annual National Smile Month campaign, which aims to raise awareness of key oral health issues among people in the UK.

This year's edition of the country's largest and longest-running oral health campaign will take place from May 15th to June 15th and will emphasise three key points: the importance of regular toothbrushing, avoiding sugary foods and drinks, and visiting the dentist regularly.

Many of the nation's leading brands and retailers will be supporting the campaign, with Oral-B acting as platinum sponsor for 2017, while further support will come from Wrigley's Extra, Polo Sugar Free, Philips and Regenerate.

The aim will be to connect with as many schools, community groups, local workplaces and individuals as possible, with social media activity set to extend the reach of the campaign further still.

Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive officer of the Oral Health Foundation, said: "In 2016, the campaign reached unprecedented levels as we celebrated our 40th birthday, with in excess of 4,000 organisations registering their interest to take part and promote better oral health, but this year we want to go even further."
