Nelson Bostock wins UK PR account for Google
Nelson Bostock has been handed a lucrative new contract by tech giant Google to support UK PR activities for several of its flagship brands.
The client put out its product portfolio press office account – formerly held by Portland and worth around 500,000 pounds a year – to a competitive pitch in January. Having held creds meetings with a number of PR agencies last year, Nelson Bostock has won the brief.
PRWeek reports that the contract includes Google's email service Gmail, the Pixel smartphone Pixel and the video-sharing site YouTube, among other brands.
Additionally, it was reported that Ogilvy PR, an existing agency partner of Google, has been handed an expanded brief to support the launch of Google Home, a voice-activated speaker powered by the company's assistant software.
The agency will also continue to do some work with the YouTube brand, in line with Google's approach of working with several agencies at a time on a project basis.
