Nestle experiences growth in first quarter

18th April 2011

Nestle has published its financial results for the first quarter of 2011, during which it was able to maintain its sales growth momentum from last year.

The consumer products company generated 20.3 billion Swiss francs (13.92 billion pounds) during the three-month period, representing an organic growth rate of 6.4 percent year on year.

Among the business divisions to experience growth during the quarter were its infant nutrition and performance nutrition units, which benefited from increased demand for their leading brands.

This helped to drive a double-digit organic expansion rate for the newly formed Nestle Health Science division, while improved performance was seen across all major territories.

Paul Bulcke, Nestle's chief executive officer, said: "In view of the strong start to the year, we are able to reconfirm our guidance for 2011 as a whole."

This builds on the strong results posted by Nestle for the 2010 business year, during which it recorded group sales of 109.7 billion Swiss francs.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800504345-ADNFCR
