Nestle hailed as global leader on climate change action by CDP

10th November 2015

Nestle has been praised as a world leader in climate change following an assessment by the sustainability ratings agency CDP.

The company was one of only 64 out of more than 2,000 to claim the maximum rating of 100 A in CDP's prestigious annual Climate A List, thanks to its numerous efforts to further optimise energy use to reduce emissions, including greenhouse gases.

As well as introducing technologies to cut emissions, it is working with farmers to help them use water more efficiently and has lent financial support to buy biogas digesters for dairy farms.

Nestle has also committed to preserving natural capital, ensuring suppliers respect its commitment to eliminating deforestation, and working to achieve zero waste for disposal at its sites by 2020.

Magdi Batato, executive vice-president and head of operations at Nestle, said: "Nestle is committed to providing leadership on climate change, and we're honoured to receive this accolade from CDP, which shows we're on the right track."

This comes after Nestle recently received an industry-leading score of 99 percent in the environmental dimension of the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability Index.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801805395-ADNFCR
