Nestlé’s emerging market performance helps first-quarter results
Nestlé has posted its financial results for the first quarter of 2016, revealing a strong organic growth performance in emerging markets.
The company reported overall organic growth of 3.9 percent for the three-month period, a figure that rose to 5.6 per cent across emerging markets, with performance in the Americas proving especially strong.
Overall sales stood at 20.9 billion Swiss francs (15.2 billion pounds) and chief executive Paul Bulcke said the company "continued the positive momentum in real internal growth".
"We gained market share in the majority of our categories and businesses. The strongest performances were in Europe, in south-east Asia and in Africa," he remarked.
In the first quarter results Nestlé also confirmed its financial outlook for the full year. It expects organic growth to be largely in line with 2015, thanks to "improvements in margins and underlying earnings per share in constant currencies, and capital efficiency".
