New details on emergency NHS care funding announced
The government has announced details of its plans to provide additional funds to help ease pressure on accident and emergency departments in England next winter.
Around 55.98 million pounds of a planned 100 million pound funding pot has been allocated by the Department of Health to 70 NHS hospitals to support their proposals to relieve the seasonal pressure on emergency servives.
Plans outlined by these trusts include primary care streaming efforts and the co-location of GP practices within accident and emergency departments, which will help to make sure patients receive more efficient treatment.
The 100 million pound capital funding pot was announced in the spring Budget by Chancellor, Philip Hammond as part of broader efforts being implemented across the NHS this year to ensure key NHS performance targets can be met by 2018.
The Department of Health said: "The funding will be used by hospitals to meet the 95 percent standard of admitting, transferring or discharging patients within four hours by ensuring patients are treated in the most appropriate setting."
