NHS staff to watch online broadcast by health experts

19th November 2007

NHS staff will be able to watch a live online broadcast from leading worlwide health experts this week during an international clinical summit to be held in London this Wednesday.

The Department of Health reports that the event will be hosted by health minister Lord Ara Darzi and will involve key figures in a range of areas from the US, Canada and continental Europe, as well as the UK.

It adds that discussions will focus on the sharing of experience with NHS stakeholders and staff involved in the ongoing Our NHS, Our Future review.

Speakers at the event include president and executive director of the Montreal Health and Social Service Agency David Levine and executive director of the Permanente Federation Dr Jack Cochran.

“A core part of the programme will focus on bringing together the clinical pathway working groups who are leading the Our NHS, Our future review in each strategic health authority region,” the department states.

It adds that these talks are aimed at encouraging discussion on the methods available for delivering the best outcomes for patients in England.

Last month, Lord Darzi reiterated that the main focus of the NHS must be high quality care for all ahead of the publication of the Our NHS, Our Future review.
