Nikon announces first-half financial results
Nikon, manufacturer of scientific instruments, has posted its financial results for the first half of the year.
The firm reported net sales of 368.08 million yen (2.45 million pounds) ? representing a rise of 24.4 per cent compared to the same period of 2008.
Additionally, its net income reached 17,666 million yen.
In particular, the firm stated that its bioscience division displayed strong growth, specifically in the field of live cells.
Sales of system products were focused upon, including equipment such the inverted research microscope ECLIPSE Ti and confocal microscope A1.
During the timeframe, the firm launched its esotropic stereomicroscope SMZ745T and the CNC image measurement system Confocal NEXIV VMZ-K6555 in order to achieve a growth in sales.
In other Nikon news, the firm revealed last month that it plans to acquire the Belgium-based 3D hardware and software inspection systems specialist Metris through its wholly-owned subsidiary NIMD SPRL.
