Nobel Biocare sees improved first quarter profits

29th April 2010

Nobel Biocare has achieved a year-on-year increase in profit levels during the first quarter of 2010, despite a continuation of difficult economic circumstances.

Although the dental solutions firm saw its revenues decline by 7.1 per cent year-on-year to 136.7 million euros (119.1 million pounds), it was nevertheless able to increase its net profit levels by 114.3 per cent.

The company said this was achieved through “pricing and cost discipline”, as well as its progress in strengthening its portfolio of prosthetics with new collaborations and product launches.

These include the agreement of partnerships with Ivoclar Vivadent, VITA Zahnfabrik and Noritake and the release of new additions to the NobelProcera range, as well as its clinical studies into the efficacy of its NobelActive implants.

Domenico Scala, chief executive officer of Nobel Biocare, said the execution of its strategy “will ensure a sustainable mid and long-term business well beyond these short-term challenges”.

Last month, the company published data from a study of its All-on-4 dental implants, demonstrating the restoration system’s practical benefits and cost-effective nature.
