Nobel Biocare’s TiUnite implant surface shows benefits in new study

Nobel Biocare has highlighted the findings of a new systematic review and meta-analysis that highlights the benefits of its TiUnite implant surface.

Published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, the study from Saarland University in Germany and the University of Gothenburg in Sweden analysed patient results from 106 peer-reviewed publications on prospective clinical studies involving TiUnite surface implants.

It represents the largest meta-analysis of a single brand of dental implants published to date, involving data on 12,803 TiUnite surface implants and 4,694 patients, and found that TiUnite was associated with a notably low early failure rate and high levels of long-term clinical survival.

Early implant and patient-level survival rate estimates both exceeded 99 percent at one year, and with late implant survival rate estimates of 95.1 percent after ten years. Meanwhile, reported prevalence of peri-implantitis was shown to be low, and comparable with other moderately rough implant surfaces.
