Norgine opens new warehouse at Welsh facility
Norgine has announced the launch of a new temperature-controlled warehouse at its existing site in Hengoed, Wales.
The company has spent 4.5 million pounds establishing the new warehouse, which will help Norgine to guarantee a steady supply of high-quality and compliant pharmaceutical products to patients worldwide.
Norgine has been manufacturing products in Hengoed since 1969, with the site now acting as its primary production facility for key products such as Movicol and Moviprep. In total, it employs around 328 full-time staff, making it the largest pharmaceutical employer in Wales.
The Welsh Assembly has hailed the move as a positive development for the local life science sector, and one that will support further economic growth and job creation.
Meirion Richards, site director for Norgine's Hengoed facility, said: "Today's warehouse opening is significant for Norgine because it highlights our long-term objective to remain a centre of excellence as an EU specialist pharma company."
The company sold off its Southern African operations and product rights to Pharmacare earlier this year to further strengthen its focus on the European market.
