Norgine UK reestablishes membership of ABPI
Norgine UK has re-joined the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), becoming the first company to join the UK trade association as a full member in 2017.
The company, which has an established UK presence in Harefield and Hengoed, has reestablished its membership of the organisation as the country prepares to exit the European Union.
Norgine is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing employer in Wales, with around 400 staff based in Hengoed, plus an additional 370 employees at their Harefield site in England. The company runs its global operations jointly from Harefield and Amsterdam.
The firm has been operating in the UK since 1969 and was recently identified as a regionally important anchor company by the Welsh government.
Peter Martin, chief operating officer of Norgine, said: "The work of the ABPI is fundamental in ensuring that the interests of large and small pharmaceutical companies are well represented when leaving the EU and ultimately, to ensure that UK patients are not left behind."
Roche also rejoined the ABPI last year, while Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Pharma Mar, Shield Therapeutics, Sintetica, SOBI and Tesaro all signed up as new members.
