Novartis agrees consulting deal with former chairman

18th July 2013

Novartis has announced a consulting agreement with former chairman Dr Daniel Vasella that will allow the company to continue to benefit from the industry veteran's extensive expertise.

Dr Vasella, the erstwhile chief executive officer of Novartis, stepped down as chairman in February 2013 and has been providing certain transitional services, including select board mandates with subsidiaries of the company.

Under the new deal, which comes into effect on November 1st, Dr Vasella has agreed to provide specific consulting services to Novartis at its request and discretion, including the coaching of high potential associates and speeches at key corporate events.

He will also continue to hold the title of honorary chairman, in recognition of his significant achievements on behalf of the business.

Professor Dr Ulrich Lehner, Novartis' interim chairman, said: "We are pleased that we will be able to call on Daniel Vasella's services and to have the opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and long-term experience in shaping a global healthcare leader."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801613844-ADNFCR
