Novartis launches 2013 BioCamp educational initiative

28th August 2013

Novartis has launched the 2013 edition of its annual International Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp), which aims to provide students with experience of leading and working with a major healthcare company.

The firm has invited 60 selected students from leading international universities in 21 countries to its headquarters in Switzerland for BioCamp, which lasts for three days and will provide participants with first-hand experience of starting a biotechnology company.

Novartis representatives will share their expertise in developing and launching innovative healthcare products with the students, with this year's BioCamp focusing on the company's innovation efforts in new business approaches.

It comes as part of the firm's commitment to supporting the exchange of ideas and thoughts between its staff and young talents in the fields of science and business.

Joseph Jimenez, chief executive officer of Novartis, said: "As Novartis innovates in healthcare, BioCamp underscores our commitment to creating a unique learning environment for young entrepreneurs."

Earlier this month, Reuters recently reported comments made by Novartis chairman Joerg Reinhardt to the Basler Zeitung newspaper suggesting that the company is open to the idea of selling off its smaller divisions as part of a business review.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801630135-ADNFCR
