Novartis nominates two new board members

Novartis has announced the nominations of Elizabeth Doherty and Ton Buechner for election to its board of directors at its next annual general meeting.

Ms Doherty is an experienced finance professional with more than 35 years of experience in the consumer goods industry, where she has helped to develop strategies and programmes to improve business outcomes and drive shareholder value for various organisations.

She has also served as chief financial officer and member of the board of directors for numerous corporations.

Meanwhile, Mr Buechner is the current chief executive officer and chairman of the executive board of the decorative paint, performance coatings and specialty chemicals company AkzoNobel.

He has successfully led a number of global companies, with portfolios targeting both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer activities.

The company's shareholders will vote on the selection of these candidates at the next Novartis annual general meeting, which will be held on February 23rd 2016.
