Novartis staff to get involved in Community Partnership Day

11th May 2017

Novartis is marking its 21st annual Community Partnership Day, an event that sees staff members around the world take part in volunteer activities.

More than 24,500 Novartis employees across six continents and 52 countries are volunteering time to support social institutions and nonprofit organisations, with more than 187,000 hours of combined community service to be carried out.

In Switzerland, for example, more than 3,000 workers are volunteering in 60 communities to help people with disabilities, assist hospitals and schools, carry out landscaping activities and restore natural habitats, while in the US over 4,500 staff members are helping out at schools, libraries, soup kitchens, women's shelters and old people's homes.

Additionally, more than 5,000 Novartis workers in Asian nations including China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore will assist with free health screenings, participate in blood drives and provide services to local hospitals and orphanages.

Joe Jimenez, chief executive officer of Novartis, said: "Community Partnership Day demonstrates the massive potential for good that we can achieve on a global scale when we unite to lend a helping hand to people who need our support."
