Novo Nordisk and Lyfebulb ally on diabetes innovation scheme

13th June 2017

Novo Nordisk is once again partnering with Lyfebulb on a project to support international patient entrepreneurs who develop innovative ideas to aid the management of diabetes.

For the second year in a row, the companies will be hosting the Lyfebulb-Novo Nordisk Innovation Summit, bringing together entrepreneurs with Lyfebulb's founders, device researchers, engineers and leaders from Novo Nordisk, and venture capitalists.

The summit will facilitate discussion on the best approaches to managing diabetes by spotlighting entrepreneurs' ideas and efforts, while also announcing the winner of the 2017 Lyfebulb-Novo Nordisk Innovation Award.

Ten patient entrepreneurs who have founded startups will be invited to pitch their ideas to the assembled panel of experts, with the top three patient entrepreneurs will receive monetary awards, including a $25,000 (19,680 pounds) grant for the top entry.

Kenneth Stromdahl, senior vice-president for device research and development at Novo Nordisk, said: "By engaging with patient entrepreneurs, in the role of innovators, we hope to advance breakthroughs in patient-centred innovation that may impact millions of patients."
