Novo Nordisk supports World Haemophilia Day
Novo Nordisk is offering its support for World Haemophilia Day, a global disease awareness campaign organised by the World Federation of Haemophilia.
Taking place today (April 17th 2012), the event is designed to improve understanding of a serious hereditary condition that goes untreated among the majority of the more than 400,000 haemophilia sufferers worldwide.
To mark the occasion, Novo Nordisk is organising awareness-raising programmes and activities to educate people about bleeding disorders, including a YouTube channel highlighting the issue.
Novo Nordisk employees will also be wearing red as a symbolic statement, with pictures to be shared with other campaign participants via Facebook.
Charlotte Ersboll, corporate vice-president at Novo Nordisk, said: "In collaboration with all partners in the haemophilia community, we aim to raise standards of care, improve access to treatment and enhance the quality of life for people with haemophilia."
This comes after the company launched a new insulin access initiative in Kenya earlier this month in order to better support diabetes patients in the impoverished nation.
