Nycomed releases second quarter financial results

21st August 2009

Nycomed has posted its financial results for the second quarter of 2009.

The Zurich-based company revealed that its total net turnover for the period reached 786.9 million euros (680.8 million pounds) – a 0.5 per cent rise on the second quarter of 2008.

Revenue generated by its key products, excluding Pantoprazole OTC, also increased by 6.9 per cent.

Additionally, during this period Pantoprazole received marketing authorisation, while applications for Daxas were filed in Europe in May.

Chief executive of Nycomed Hakan Bjorklund said the firm is also benefiting from a partnership with Forest Laboratories for the marketing of Daxas in the US.

“Despite the global downturn and currency effects, Nycomed delivered a solid performance in the first half year, sustaining its momentum,” he furthered.

In May, the organisation stated that it had made a good start to the year as its first quarter 2009 financial results showed that its net turnover had increased to 839.9 million euros.
