14th January 2008

Oral-B is to refresh its range of rechargeable toothbrushes as it seeks to further establish itself within the UK market, it has been reported.

Steven Davey, Oral-B brand manager, told online publication Talking Retail: “The UK has a long way to go in terms of household penetration of rechargeable brushing – we’re currently at 19.6 per cent.”

This compares to 41 per cent in Norway and 62 per cent in Holland, which he cites as proof that there is “great potential” for growth in the market in Britain.

Currently, eight of ten such brushes sold in Britain are made by Oral-B buts its new wave of packaging is designed to help remaining consumers easily choose a suitable brush for their needs.

Oral-B is part of Proctor & Gamble. The group’s net sales increased by 12 per cent during 2007, reaching $76 billion (?38.8 billion).
