Orion announces 2009 financial results
Orion has unveiled its financial results for the whole of 2009, which indicate a year-on-year rise in net sales of 8.5 per cent.
The company’s net sales for the period stood at 771.5 million euros (678.8 million pounds), up from the 710.7 million euros generated in 2008.
Operating profit was 207 million euros, while its total profit before taxes was declared to be 203.7 million euros.
President and chief executive officer Timo Lappalainen of the firm said: “The growth in net sales later in the year was better than forecast in almost all business divisions and geographic regions.”
He added that much of the firm’s success was based around the products it researched and developed itself – such as Parkinson’s disease therapies, its Simdax heart failure treatment and Easyhaler pulmonary drugs.
Meanwhile, the group’s last financial results announcement, encompassing the first nine months of 2009, showed net sales of 578.2 million euros.
