Orion highlights ‘solid’ 2010 performance

1st November 2010

Orion has published its year-to-date financial results, underlining a "solid" level of year-on-year growth in net sales and operating profit terms.

The pharmaceutical company accrued 635 million euros (551.7 million pounds) in the first nine months of the year, up by ten percent on the corresponding period of 2009.

This builds on the momentum seen during the January to June 2010 window, which was marked by a nine percent year-over-year growth.

According to Orion's interim financial report, improvements were driven by the continuing success of its Parkinson's disease offerings and the intensive care sedative Precedex, while investment into research that will expand its Easyhaler product family has also been committed.

The firm has now raised its outlook estimate for the remainder of the year, according to president and chief executive officer Timo Lappalainen.

He said: "We now estimate that operating profit excluding non-recurring items will be clearly higher than in 2009. Previously, we estimated that operating profit excluding non-recurring items would be higher than in 2009."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800208150-ADNFCR
