Orthofix International appoints new chief executive officer

Orthofix International has announced that Robert Vaters is to become its new president and chief executive officer on August 1st 2011.

Mr Vaters, the company's current chief operating officer, is succeeding outgoing leader Alan Milinazzo, who will be stepping down after a six-year spell at the head of Orthofix.

Prior to joining the firm in the role of executive vice-president and chief financial officer in 2008, Mr Vaters was the general partner and co-founder of the healthcare private equity firm Med Opportunity Partners.

Jim Gero, chairman of the Orthofix board of directors, thanked Mr Milinazzo for his contributions, while welcoming news that he will remain a member of the board.

He added: "The board believes Bob is the right person to lead our company during this next phase of our growth."

According to the firm's first-quarter financial report, Orthofix generated net sales of $139.2 million (86 million pounds) in the first three months of the year, slightly up on the corresponding period of 2010.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800582905-ADNFCR
