Orthofix International launches spinal deformity correction module

6th October 2010

Orthofix International has released its first product in the spinal deformity correction market, with the launch of a new module for its Firebird pedicle screw system.

The company's new Direct Vertebral Rotation device is a low-profile instrument which combines rod reduction with direct vertebral rotation functionality, via a unique new design.

It has also been optimised to offer faster and more efficient intraoperative assembly and disassembly compared with other products of the same type.

Orthofix International has initially made the product available via a limited market release, with a full launch planned for the first quarter of 2011.

Alan Milinazzo, president and chief executive officer of Orthofix, said: "With our new deformity correction system, we are now able to provide our surgeon customers with a state-of-the-art treatment option for their patients suffering from conditions such as scoliosis and kyphosis."

In August 2010, the company launched the Fusion XT knee brace, a device which maximises air flow via its proprietary AirTech technology.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800101586-ADNFCR
