Otsuka and X-Chem announce new drug discovery partnership
Otsuka has announced a new collaborative research agreement with X-Chem Pharmaceuticals with the aim of accelerating its drug discovery processes.
The partnership will see X-Chem will utilise its DEX DNA-encoded library screening and informatics platform to search for novel drug leads for several Otsuka discovery targets, in exchange for an initial research fee and future milestone-based payments.
Otsuka will provide several target proteins to X-Chem and will take responsibility for independently conducting clinical trials for any compounds identified, while retaining exclusive rights to globally commercialise any products resulting from the collaboration.
X-Chem's DEX libraries contain more than 120 billion individually DNA-encoded compounds, enabling screening and analysis of vast amounts of chemical space, thereby facilitating efforts to increase success rates for generating target leads and shorten screening timelines.
Toshiki Sudo, executive director for drug discovery at Otsuka, said: "We anticipate that our drug discovery research will be further enhanced through X-Chem's breakthrough technology, leading to the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals."
