PerkinElmer announces new assay kits

19th December 2008

PerkinElmer announced the launch of 11 new assay kits at the annual meeting of The American Society for Cell Biology this week.

The kits – designed for the AlphaScreen SureFire platform – have been developed for the quick detection of full-length kinase activation in cell lysates and "represent new assays for mapping of cellular kinase pathways involved in many complex diseases", the manufacturer said.

Conditions include metabolism, inflammation and cardiovascular disorders and cancer.

Commenting on the launch, the president of the company’s Bio-discovery division Richard M Eglen said: "With continued emphasis on kinase-based research and the growing need for new technologies to measure cellular pathway activation, PerkinElmer is taking action to provide solutions for evolving researcher requirements."

The platform is a homogeneous "mix and read" technology, which simplifies protocols by removing the need for multiple wash steps, for example.

Additionally, the kits measure full-length, endogeonous protein phosphorylation in a cell based format, PerkinElmer added.
